The museum is in Warsaw’s Old Town next to the cathedral. The permanent exhibits show sacred and secular works of art from the Middle Ages until the present. The museum’s collection includes paintings, sculptures, graphic art, gilt work, clothing, old clocks and furniture. The museum was established in 1938.

The cathedral crypt is the burial place of outstanding and distinguished Poles and members of the royal families. Visitors will learn about traditional Polish funeral customs of the 17th and 18th centuries.
